STAR NAMES

There are currently just 336 stars with proper names in the catalog of the International Astronomical Union.

Due to the immense amount of stars in the universe, most of them do not get a pile name and are only referred

to by their scientific designation. The few stars that do get a name, are generally the ones that can be seen with the naked eye or with the help of a moderate telescope from Earth.
